East is East religion

All in all the Khan family is an unreligious family except their eldest son named Maneer. They are confronted with religion by attending a holy Mass, but they take it easy and do it just for fun. George himself does not really know anything about Islamic religion and tries to justify his inappropriate behaviour with Islam. Not just George, but also the children and Ella seem to mix up Pakistani culture with Islamic religion. Ella does not know anything about religion, too. If she was interested in religion she could have educated her children in Christian or Islamic religion a bit more than just letting them join some masses and letting her sons being circumcised. But her children do not act out any religion. Maybe because Ella is from the British working class - they live in a poor and beggarly state. No wonder they do not have any worldly or devine education. They do not have any spirituality and Islam is seen as a religion with obligations and rules. It's as if the children are praying to their father and hoping that he will be merciful to them instead of praying to God and sticking to some normal way of life.

The children are fed up with George because of his despotic and tyrannic behaviour. It is very sad to see that they start hating the native religion of their father because he is a very bad representative for this wonderful religion - Islam.
